Hello, sorry I have been off this board for so long!
Last time I attended the young contractors class it seemed that a lot of the people there were in the same boat as I: Sons/Daughters going into the family business.
Now, I know that we briefly went over exit strategies for the parents/owners of the company last year. But I feel that it is something we all should learn a lot more about.
In other words, when the owner retires, what is it going to look like for 1. the young contractor, 2. the owner, and 3. the company.

Another point that I think needs to be addressed is: How to respectfully and successfully implement new things into a company that has been running smoothly for so many years.
I've found that my father is cautious of many things that I have brought to the table, and most of them are things I've learned/obtained through PDCA.
It can be a hard thing for a young contractor to have to decide which new things to let go and which things are worth pushing for for the betterment of the company.

In regards to the technical subjects that you mentioned, I think it would be good for anyone to learn those. What if one of the courses went over the resources we have available to us that can teach us (and the company) those kind of things?
